The NFR (National Finals Rodeo), popularly known as the “Super Bowl of Rodeo,” is a world championship title event held annually by the PRCA. Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association organized the National Finals Rodeo in 1958 in order to find the world champion in each of rodeo’s 7 main events such as Bull Riding, Steer Wrestling, Barrel Racing, Bareback Riding, Tie Down Roping & Team Roping. The world championship for Steer Roping held separately from regular National Finals Rodeo. The first National Finals Rodeo was held in Dallas in 1959 & followed by at that venue till 1961. But Los Angels Hosted from 1962 to 1964.
